what is mentorship?

A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.” — Oprah Winfrey

Mentorship is more than an experience, It is a relationship between someone with expertise and someone who wants to learn. With that being said, It is in no way a one-way stream instead it is a two-way relationship where both the mentee and mentor learn from each other.

Personally, it has not been long since I realized the importance of mentorship. I can see substantial growth in me since I met mentors who guided me in different areas of life and work.

One can have one or more mentors in different areas they want to grow. For example, if you want to grow your business and also learn yoga you can have a mentor who is experienced in the business sector and a different mentor who is an expert in yoga. To know more on the purpose of mentoring, you can take a look at Purpose of Mentoring.

There are different benefits of mentorship for both the mentee and the mentor. Here are a few of them!

  • Will provide proper guidance:

When we are inexperienced, we often find ourselves in a position where we don’t know what to do and get stuck. At such times we can turn to our mentors. With their guidance and knowledge, it will be easier to make the right decision.

  • Help you grow:

Mentors will observe you objectively which will enable them to know your weakness and strengths. They know where you need improvement and hence, you will be able to grow significantly.

  • Hold you accountable:

When you have someone looking forward to your improvement you will be encouraged to do so. Mentors will always be the push you need to outperform your expectations.

  • Networking:

Usually, mentors are well connected and have the professional group they can introduce you to. Mentors are great resources for your career. And even if you are a student finding a professor who can be your mentor is a great way to learn more and take part in research activities.

How can mentorship benefit a mentor:

  • Personal Satisfaction:

Giving time and care to nurture and help someone grow is a great way to give back to the community. If you are successful then most likely you have had people who guided you and now it’s your time.

  • Stay up to date with current trends:

Having a mentee of the younger generation will help you know about current trends and technology. It is essential to stay informed about currents trends especially if you are in a business or education sector.

  • Refine leadership skills:

Mentoring people is a good way to improve your own leadership skills. Based on your current situation, it can also help you to land on your dream job since it reflects your leadership skills on your CV.

  • Networking:

As a mentor, you can broaden your network by connecting with other mentors and also by connecting with different mentees.

Well now you might be wondering okay I too want a mentor but where can I find one? Don’t worry we have got your back. Here are a few ways you can find a mentor for yourself:

  • Look around yourself:

As best said by Steve Robertson in Forbes, “You can find potential mentors all around you.”

Mentors can even be your cousin or friends who are experts at something you want to learn.

  • Workplace Mentors:

If you are currently working somewhere then your colleagues or your supervisor are one of the most potential mentors. Be sure to reach out to them. Mentorship in the workplace is both good for the employee and the employer.

  • Mentoring Programs:
  • Taking part in a mentorship program is one of the best ways to find a mentor for yourself. Look for the mentorship program that best suits your interest. We at Learn Infinity also offer world-class mentorship programs for personal growth.

bottom line

Mentorship helps to foster growth and success in one’s life. It is a healthy relationship that takes time and effort but with the proper care, you can unleash our best version of yourself with the help of mentorship.

It’s never too late to find a mentor or to be one. The best thing you can do is invest in your own growth and growth of others. I hope you will be engaged in mentorship by the upcoming mentorship month in January.

personal growth

personal growth

personal growth

“Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life, it will improve the lives of all those around you.” ―Robin Sharma

You might have heard this term a lot but are not sure what it means and why it is important. Personal growth is a self-investment to improve ourselves in different areas of our life whether it be intellectual, professional, or social. We must imply what we learned for growth to happen.
Personal growth is important for our well-being. Once we start focusing on personal growth, our life will change for the better.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs

According to Maslow, one of the pioneers of psychology, “To have a meaningful life, self-actualization is important”. He puts self-actualization as, “Living according to one’s full potential and becoming who we really are.” Personal growth is built around the same idea.

Personal growth doesn’t happen overnight, it takes consistent effort and time. However, few achievements can be felt soon. Be patient with yourself and learn to cherish yourself that is the very first step towards personal growth.

Here are a few practical steps where you can start from:

  •  Self-reflection for personal growth:

With an open and unbiased perspective, look at your life. Analyze your daily actions and habits. Once you know where you want to better yourself, it will be easier and meaningful to start.

  •  Growth mindset:

Without having a mindset and value set change, behavioral change is not possible. You need to prioritize and find your values. And be ready to see from different perspectives. Learn more about what Growth Mindset actually means on

  • Write down your plan:

Make your own personal growth plan which will work as a sort of guide in your journey. List the areas where you want to improve and a few ideas that you have on how.

Also, write why are you starting this journey and get back to it over and over as you go, it will keep you motivated.

  • Learn and take action:

Start with one particular area. Research on how you can improve yourself. Maybe it can be reading books related to your improvement area or going to seminars. One thing you have to keep in mind is just learning is not enough you need to take action in order for change to happen.

  • Find yourself a mentor:

Having a mentor/s is important for personal growth. At first, you might think it is hard to find mentors but trust me it isn’t. You can find mentors at your own personal circle. Maybe you want to improve your skill in photography then there might be one of your friend or a cousin who is really good at it. That particular person can be your mentor for photography.
Another good way to find a really good mentor is to take part in mentorship programs. You can find life long mentors to guide you.

Personal growth helps us to be a better version of ourselves and reach our fullest potential. When that happens magic begins.

  • We get to know ourselves better.
  • We start feeling an abundance of happiness.
  • We find meaning in our life.
  • We start to do better at work.
  • We have more healthy and meaningful relationships.
  • We find satisfaction and a sense of achievement.
  • Our life becomes more balanced.
  • It becomes easier to achieve our goals.
  • We become more productive.
  • We will become a profound human being.

bottom line

Personal growth is necessary to live our life to the fullest. It is an ongoing process and everyone’s journey is different. All that matters is we are improving ourselves. Even 1% better every day is growing and you should be proud of yourself. Start researching, learning, re-learning, and implying it onto your life.

social media

things to keep in mind while using social media

Social media

In this age of social media, most of us are facing problems related to its overuse. When we intend just to use it for 2 minutes, we lose the sense of time and end up using it for hours.

All of us know that social media affects our mental health negatively. However, it can have a positive impact if used on limitation, according to an article published on BBC.

social media
  • Don’t compare:

Most of us who are addicted to social media tend to compare ourselves. How can’t we, when everyone is living the life we want to live except for us, right? But remember, no one would be posting those pictures if they were in your position right now. They too had to start from somewhere and must have dealt with their own hardships.

“Stop comparing your Behind-The-Scenes to someone’s Highlight Reel.”

  • Your worth is not determined by numbers:

You are worth more than the numbers on social media whether it be your followers, likes, comments, or all of them combined. All of these are more about optimized content and social media algorithms and less about you.

social media, social, network-3758364.jpg
  • Be intentional:

Don’t open your social media and start browsing mindlessly. Ask yourself “What am I opening it for?”, “Is it just to kill time or is it really necessary?”. Unless you have an important task to do like catch up with your family members who are miles away or call your friend that you haven’t talked to in a while, don’t open it.

  • Don’t check your social media right after waking up:

If it is that urgent then people will call you. So don’t worry about missing out on an important thing. Don’t check your phone until an hour after you wake up. Give yourself time to actually wake up and do other productive things that will make you feel good and ready to conquer the day.

  • Don’t use your phone 30 minutes prior to your bedtime:

It is easy to scroll through your feed until 1 am when you just wanted it for 5 minutes at 10 pm. So, keep your phone out of your reach 30 minutes prior to your bedtime. It can be as easy as putting your phone away where you cannot reach from your bed. It is effective because we tend to be lazy and avoid doing extra work especially during bedtime.

  • Set aside specific time to use social media:

Make a routine and stick with it. Be strict and smart while setting aside time. Maybe making time for social media right before you have another thing that is important and you love to do will help you stick with your time limit. In this time be intentional and use it for a good reason.

  • Turn off your notifications:

When it’s not your time to use social media then turn off your notifications. When we hear the sound we get curious and tend to check what it is about. Better turn off your wifi but if it is not possible for you then at least turn off your notifications.

  • Keep your phone away from your working/study area:

I do this all the time and it works. If your phone is nearby where it is easy for you to just open then you will probably do so just to have a quick look. And all of us know what happens afterwards. However, if you keep your phone away, you won’t bother to go all the way just to have a quick check.

  • Keep your phone apps to a minimum:

The more apps you have, the more distractions you create for yourself. Try to keep your phone organized and only keep the apps that are necessary. If you want to use social media for communication then just keep the apps that your family members and colleagues use to communicate.

Don’t keep the apps that you are addicted to on your home screen:

I learned this tip from a blog at medium and wanted to share it with you guys. According to the blog, “By not keeping apps you are addicted to in the home screen you give yourself time to think if it is really necessary to open that app.”

bottom line

man, face, head-335401.jpg

You always have a choice whether to mindlessly scroll through your feed and regret afterwards or to do things that you find meaningful and feel happy about it. You can stop your addiction by making it hard for yourself to open the social media app without intention. You can do it by the tricks mentioned above or come up with your own ways. The next time you open your social media, be mindful.

how to feel better while feeling low?

feel better

All of us have those days when we lose our motivation and just feel bad about ourselves. Trust me, I have those days as well. In fact, I used to have a lot of such days where I would just sit on my couch crying feeling insecure and helpless. But by practicing different techniques, I found out a few ways to make myself feel better and I hope these tips will be helpful for you too.

All of us are different and have different thought processes, so maybe all of these might not work for you. However, the only way to find out what works for you is to try.

how to feel better?

feel better
  • Don’t discard your feelings:

It’s okay to feel sad, insecure, and all sorts of emotions. Don’t ignore any of your emotions rather see them as a signal that you are in need of something. Try to find out the reason behind such emotions and what is that you need to feel better.

  • Self-Reflect:

“Honest self-understanding liberates us from our stuck emotions.”

The process of figuring out the reason/s behind your emotion is through self-reflection. Take a deep breath, stop, and start self-reflecting.

  • Write down how you are feeling:

Grab a piece of paper and a pen, find a place away from distraction, and write down your thoughts. It doesn’t have to be structured, just write down whatever comes to your mind and how you are feeling.

Oftentimes, writing down will help you figure out about yourself and also release stress. It’s a good idea to journal every day.

  •  Walk:

Just a change of sight can lighten our mood. Take a walk outside in nature and notice small things like how the leaves are moving, and just appreciate those small moments.

  • Exercise:

According to Harvard Health, “Doing some exercise helps us to release stress and makes us feel better”. It doesn’t have to be a hardcore workout, even a simple stretching will help.

  • Listen to music:

Music is proven to have the ability to alter chemicals in our brain. According to an article published on BBC, “ Listening to music can enhance our mood”.

  • Dance on your own:

Play a song and just dance carefreely on your own. It is a wonderful alternative if you don’t want to exercise.

  • Hobbies:

Hobbies are great stress relievers. I personally feel happy when I paint. Just doing what you love even small things like cleaning your room can instantly boost your mood.

  • Eat your favorite food:

Nothing can give me as much pleasure as eating my favorite cake after a long time. All of us have that joyful food that we enjoy a lot.

  • Catch up with closed ones:

We, humans, are social animals. Even though some of us may be introverts but that doesn’t mean we don’t like to socialize at all. Talking with someone who can truly understand us and feel close to can brighten our mood.

  • Sleep well:

Maintain a consistent sleep schedule. Sleep can have a huge impact on your mood.

Sometimes we don’t have the privilege to feel low at home. So below are some quick tips you can do if you are feeling low when you are outside for example in your office.

  • Breathe: Do some quick breathing exercise. Breathing deeply is good for our overall health as well as a quick way to feel better and organized.
  • Stand up: If taking a quick walk is not possible for you then consider standing up for a few minutes.

Close your eyes and remember happy moments.

  • Drink water: Drinking a glass of water makes a difference.

bottom line

It’s okay to feel sad but don’t be trapped in it. It’s all in our brain, we can find ways to lighten our mood. Whenever you feel low take a break for yourself and practice self-care. Start by deep breathing and having a glass of water.

how to become productive?

becoming productive

Do you procrastinate most of the time and beat yourself up for not being productive? Once, I belonged to the same crowd but using few productivity tricks and developing consistent habits, I have been able to get things done on time.

Productivity is not about getting more things done, it’s about getting essential things done with focus consistently. You won’t be productive overnight it requires consistent effort so be patient with yourself and acknowledge your small achievements.

Here are some helpful productivity tips that I would like to share with you.

  • Start making To-Do list:

To-Do lists are our time savior. If you invest 10 minutes daily on the To-Do list, it will save your 2 hours of trying to figure out what to do. You can make an effective To-Do list with the help of There are some things to keep in mind while making a To-Do list:

Prioritize your tasks:

After you make your To-Do list take a few minutes and analyze it and eliminate the unimportant ones. This will help you prioritize the essential ones. Using the Eisenhower method is a great way to do it.

Set a timeline for your tasks:

While you list out your tasks, set a timeline for them. Write down the specific time for which you are going to focus on that certain task.

Break down your bigger task into smaller ones:

While listing your bigger task break them into a few small steps. For example, if you have to make a presentation don’t write down make a presentation as your task. Instead, write research for presentation, design 1st slide, and so on.

  •  Set a Deadline for your tasks:

To overcome procrastination and be productive we need to know how a procrastinator’s mindset functions

Basically, procrastinators push back the work until the last minute of the deadline. Hence, setting aside deadlines for your task by yourself gives your brain a sense of urgency to do the work.

  • Take Breaks:

Remember it is important to take breaks while you work in order to be productive. As humans, we have a certain focus time span, and if we work continuously exceeding our focus timespan then we won’t be able to work effectively. There are different methods we can use for it. One of the effective one is the Pomodoro method.

In Pomodoro method, you basically work for 25 minutes and take a 5-minute break. After working for 4 sessions this way, you take a longer break of 15-20 minutes.

  • Set a “me” time every day:

Making time for yourself is important for your mental health. During your “me” time, unplug yourself from all the digital distractions and work stress. Just lay in your bed and read your favorite novel or just sit there without doing anything.

This helps to improve your mood and also works as a reward. I personally like to take 30 minutes “me” time in the evening after completing my important tasks for the day.

  • Set-up an efficient system:

Setting up a system is developing and consistently practicing habits that save up your time in the future. It can be as simple as making To-Do every day and making a schedule.

  • Learn to say “NO”:

You cannot say yes to everything. You need to set your priorities and work accordingly as per your limits to have a balanced life. So learn to say no to that meet up you don’t want to attend. Simply put, say no to things that will make you feel drained.

  • Reminder:

Productivity is a mindset that we can build by being consistently completing our important tasks effectively. It is important to take breaks and take care of yourself.

Productivity is working efficiently rather than working all day. Breaks and strategy are important. Do what works for you, try different productivity hacks, and establish your own system.

There is no one size fits all when it comes to productivity. Start now by doing that one important thing that you have been procrastinating to do for a long time.

understanding empathy

Understanding empathy

Empathy is the ability to understand, connect, and feel another human being without any judgment. Yes, we are born with some level of empathy engraved in us but that doesn’t essentially mean that we cannot change that level. According to, “empathy as the ability to sense other people’s emotions, coupled with the ability to imagine what someone else might be thinking or feeling.”

Empathy is an essential skill in any human being. Luckily, through constant practice, we can become more empathetic. According to Verywellmind, “Empathy is the ability to emotionally understand what other people feel, see things from their point of view, and imagine yourself in their place.”

  • To strengthen our relationships: In a relationship of any kind we want to be understood, loved, heard, and feel connected. And once we start to empathize we began to understand and see people which strengthen our relationships.
  • To find satisfaction and meaning: As humans, we seek connection. It’s deep human connections that gives our life meaning. And when we empathize we begin to connect more deeply. As experts like to put it, we start noticing commonality.
  • Be happy: According to a 75 years long research, good relationships keep us happier and healthier. When we start to grow more empathetic our relationships with people and with us strengthens. Hence, we become happier.(
  • To excel at work: It is proven that our creativity and productivity at work increases when we start empathizing with our coworkers. (

  • Start noticing your surrounding: Be observant of others and things around you. Take a second now and try to understand what a person sitting next to you is feeling. Being mindful of your surrounding is the first step towards practicing sensibility.
  • Listen: Don’t listen to answer, listen to understand. When someone is sharing their experiences or feelings with you, ask follow up questions instead of giving suggestions. Just be curious genuinely and listen with open ears.
  • Stop and talk: Take a moment and talk with strangers whenever you have a chance. At least talk to one new person in a week.
  • Don’t judge: Judging people will prevent you from being empathetic. Remember your part of the reality is not the only one. Instead of judging try to know people’s back story. Everyone has their reasons and experiences. According to psychologytoday, “remember that judging a person does not define who they are, it defines who you are.”
  • Spend unplugged time with your family: Spend every day for about an hour with your family without any digital distraction. Share how your day was and have meaningful conversations.
  • Open up: When someone shares his or her intimidate feelings or experience, listen to them patiently and also share yours. Empathy is a two-way channel.
  • Start with one person: Try understanding one person for truly who they are. Try to understand their perspective of the world. Have good conversations with them and try to observe and feel them. That’s where you can start.

key takeaway

We can grow our understanding on purpose through practice. Empathy is a beautiful skill that protects our humanity. Make it your choice to practice empathy everyday. Trust me, it will change the way you view the world. We all have the natural desire to connect. Building empathy, considering the perspectives of others, and opening ourselves to uncomfortable conversations can make that happen.

“Keeping a journal of what’s going on in your life is a good way to help you distill what’s important and what’s not.”

There are different forms of journaling and you can customize them as per your personal preferences. it’s totally customizable and personal to you. “Journaling generally involves the practice of keeping a diary or journal that explores thoughts and feelings surrounding the events of your life.”, says verywellmind.

Be open to experimenting and embrace your mistakes.

Some ideas on how to start:

  • If you are recording in a Diary for the first time then you might want to write down all your worries and negative emotions. This will help you let all the distractions out of your mind and let you relax.
  • After you have released all your worries, you are now all set to write about your goals and who you want to become. It’s all about replacing all the negative emotions with positive ones.
  • If you are not comfortable yet writing about your worries, that’s fine! You can just write down how your day was or make a list of things that you like.

I have started but how can I remain consistent?

  • Allocate a set amount of time every day for journaling.
  • Find a quiet place, play relaxing music, or light your favorite candle. Just create an ambiance that makes you feel comfortable, and makes you feel at peace. turns you on.

What should I write to achieve success?

While making a journal is your own little space to write whatever you want but there are few things I recommend you write down to better your life.

  • Gratitude log: Write down what you are grateful for at the moment every day. Trust me, I practice this and this has changed my life for the better.
  • Write down your goals: By writing down your goals you are 1.4% more likely to achieve that goal. You can write all sorts of goals from short-term goals to your crazy big ones.
  • Write how: Now that you have written your goals also write down how you are going to achieve those goals. This might be difficult but be patient.
  • To-Do list: Write down all the tasks that you want to complete that day. If you write down something then that gives your mind a signal that it is important and hence your mind will automatically focus on that.

Impacts of Journaling every day

  • It is proven that journaling helps to release stress.
  • It keeps you organized and helps you to be more productive.
  • Making a journal helps to improve immune system functioning.
  • It helps you to feel greater psychological well-being.
  • Journaling helps you to reconnect with your goal.
